I have been aware of these same type sayings for some time, but thank you for providing it for all to see. I hope this will wake people up to the reality and seriousness of this war on terror.

Bravo, well put together article. Perhaps one of the more infuriating things is the worlds denouncement of us as haters of Muslims. This is something that Al Qaeda likes to latch on to as well. Except it completely ignores Kosovo. Where we led a successful air campaign against the genocide of many muslims.
Thank you

An awesome post that every Left Wing anti-war American should read more than once.

Al Qaeda does not speak for all of Islam. That's like saying whackjobs like the Army of God or the psycho who runs her Jesus Camp speak for Christianity. There are psychos in every religion. How about we not randomly decide that every muslim believes tis way.

Certainly, it would be nice to hear more voices against the terrorists on the evening news but you won't. You have a news media industry that is tainted by the defense industry and the Bush administration. Hearing words of encouragement goes against our "war on Terror".

I will, however, provide some examples of muslim dissent against the terrorists:

"[terrorists] are not Muslims and have nothing to do with Islam, but only exploit the religion's name to inflict harm on innocent people." - cleric Mohammed Kamal Mustafa (Spain) http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/0314/p06s01-woeu.html

"[Al Qaeda attacks on America] are not compatible with Shariah law," the Koranic legal code, nor with the Islamic concept of jihad, and that the perpetrators were not martyrs as Mr. bin Laden has claimed, but "merely suicides," because they killed innocent civilians, and in a distant land, America. There is no concept of jihad as aggressive combat," he said, quoting verses of the Koran that Islamic theologians have argued over for centuries. In misreading these texts, he said, Mr. bin Laden had relied on "personal psychological needs," including a "tribal urge for revenge." Sheik Fadlallah - spiritual leader of Hezbollah.

" Islam rejects all of these acts. Killing innocent civilians is a horrific, hideous act that no religion can approve. " Grand Shaykh of Al-Azhar in Egypt

It would take me hours to list all of the muslim voices that have voiced dissent over the attacks by Al Qaeda and terrorist groups. You just have to be willing to listen, read, and learn.

AAaaahhh Katie,

Where did you hear me say that all Muslims think like al Qaeda?? The purpose of writing about radical Islam is to point out to Muslims and non-Muslims what the terrorists want. Check out my other blog where I have more posts up if you want to know my view on Islam, or you can wait here and I will eventually get them all posted here.

Sorry eagle - its the title of the thread that got me. It simply states "Muslim ideas". That is where I read a generalization. With so many people in this world equating islam with terrorism, it was an easy mistake to make. I live in Metro Detroit and have many Muslim friends, so I do get defensive of them.

Perhaps a better title that includes the term radical in it would help people (like me) who jump to conclusions?

Agreed, since writing that post, I have tried to be more careful. I too have many Muslim friends and feel the threat of radical Islam is for Muslim as well as non-Muslims.

Muslims are actually the biggest victim of Islamist.

Most definitely. I have friends that range from conservative to liberal muslims - none of them favor radicalism. Many of them have lost family members to the violence in Iraq and other areas that Al Qaeda is operating from. Its sad that they are the unseen victims.

Unfortunately, so many see every muslim the same way...
